Once upon a time there was a man eating dragon, so the king promised his crown to whoever could save the kingdom. Princes came from all over the land, decided to work together, and set camp outside the city, near the dragon’s cave. They lit a fire, and each night one of them was to guard it. If the fire went out, that meant the guard had fallen asleep, and would be punished by death. On the seventh night, the dragon emerged from the cave, and, while everybody slept a cursed sleep, the guard battled and killed the beast.
And the dragon’s blood put out the fire.
And then our story begins.
The Seven Headed Dragon was collected by Petre Ispirescu in the second half of the XIX century. Here, we see the hero actively stopping time (made of three siblings, Dawn, Midnight and Dusk) as he sets out to find a new source of fire.
