My name is Maria Surducan and I’ve been working for over ten years as an illustrator, comics author and scriptwriter from my studio in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. I have published several comic books, in French, Hungarian and Romanian – and most of them are, in different shapes or forms, interpretations of Eastern-European fairy-tales. My work explores the idea that, by using belief narratives as a tool, sequential art has the subtle power to offer healing through emotional storytelling.

The Timemongers project was developed between 2021 and 2024, in between client work and tumultuous world developments. It allowed me to explore my interests in mythology and to wonder about the ways in which we change our personal experiences and emotions into stories.
